Dr (Prof) Dipika Deka is a renowned academician and Fetal Medicine clinician in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with a Gold Medal in MBBS and an MD from Guwahati University. She holds prestigious honorary fellowships including FICOG, FICMCH and FIMSA. Trained globally, she has completed fellowships and observerships at institutions such as Georgetown University (USA), King’s College London, UCSF San Francisco and University of Ohio. Her extensive academic journey includes over 35 years at AIIMS, New Delhi, where she served in various capacities, culminating as Professor and Unit Head in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
A pioneer of maternal-fetal medicine in India, Dr Dipika was instrumental in establishing this subspecialty at AIIMS and initiated the country’s first fellowship in the field. She has conducted over 1,000 intrauterine fetal transfusions and is a recognized expert in advanced fetal interventions including fetal shunting, fetoscopy, laser ablation and treatment of TTTS. Her research and academic contributions include 258 journal publications, 60 book chapters and editing five major medical books. She has delivered 14 orations, over 500 lectures nationally and presented her work internationally across 37 global forums.
Dr Dipika currently serves as Senior Consultant in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at a Superspeciality clinic in Dwarka. She has previously held key leadership roles as Director of AIIMS Kalyani and Vice Chancellor of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Government of Assam.
