Blood Sugar Fasting

This is the Blood Sugar - Fasting test.

Reference Values
Before-meal normal sugars are 70–99 mg/dl. “Postprandial” sugars taken two hours after meals should be less than 140 mg/dl. Those are the normal numbers for someone without diabetes.

Interpretations
High levels of glucose most frequently indicate diabetes, but many other diseases and conditions can also cause elevated blood glucose.

In a person with signs and symptoms of diabetes or hyperglycaemia, a non-fasting glucose level (random blood sample) that is equal to or greater than 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L) indicates diabetes.
