He is American Board Certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Palliative Care. He completed MBBS at Maulana Azad medical College with top honors in Medicine, preventive medicine and Forensics. He completed MD (Medicine) at Maulana Azad and was the recipient of the first Sudhir Rehan Memorial award. He completed residency and a fellowship in medical oncology and hematology in the US at SUNY Upstate Medical University. He worked at that institution for 16 years and retired as a professor and now sees patient part-time in addition to medical research. He was awarded multiple quality and patient choice awards as well as the Anita award for compassionate cancer care. He has published over 100 papers in prestigious journals including Lancet oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer and Blood among others and presented over 200 papers at major scientific meetings. His areas of expertise include geriatric oncology, lung cancer, prostate cancer and lymphomas.
